A foreign place

I was young and bold,
War hit hard,
My home all rich and happy,
War started,
Moving across the sad and grey country,
Not the Poland I knew, Home wasn’t home it was cold and sad.

Many years later married,
Sad and empty,
The sky was sad,
War was blazing harder and harder.

“We’re moving to America”
Wow, America,
Change hit quickly,
hard and fast,
Now moving to Australia,
Leaving everything even my brother,
Hoping it would be better,
He was going to America,
We left,
Never to see our home,
Now a foreign place.
