Share your verses with us and speak back to history!

Thank you for your interest in the 2022 History Festival Poetry Takeover Challenge! We’re eager to see how you have related your inspiration from a museum or gallery in South Australia to this year’s theme, reimagine.

The form below is where you can upload your poem and photo of the object that inspired you. When you have completed the form, we will check your entry. If it meets the Poetry Takeover guidelines, we will publish your poem on the Poetry Takeover website.

If you have any questions or problems, please ask your teacher, parent or carergiver to contact us.

Your poem & photo

The information below will be displayed on the Poetry Takeover website and on History Trust social media.
This will be used to give you credit as the author. It can be your first name, nickname, initials or anonymous. It's up to you.
Copy & paste or type your poem into the box above. Please make sure it is no more than 25 lines.

The object that inspired you

Please use a good, clear photo of your object so we can display it next to your poem. If you have a photo already, you may upload it. If you found your inspiration in an online gallery or exhibit, you may enter a link to it.
Click or drag a file to this area to upload.
Please be sure to upload a good quality, straight-on photo of the object that inspired you. Your photo should be at least 1000 pixels on its longest side. If your photo is too small or low quality we may choose not to display it in our online gallery.
At the website where you found your object, right-click its photo and select 'Copy image address' from the fly-out menu.
